NLX Server Starting Soon + Dead Accounts

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

So I’ve been told. I’m excited to see how this goes with my new work schedule. I have this schedule where I arrive at the office at 7:45 and work until noon. Then from 12-5 I work on strategy. This leaves me with plenty of time to play Travian on my iPhone. :-)

ive reconnected with one of the members of the A-Team from NL. Maybe I can join the end of a COMX or USX server and take over someone’s account. So many people quit Travian after starting there never seems to be a shortage of account to pick up, once someone else has done the heavy lifting. :-)

How Not To “Fake (FAIL) it Till You Make it” in Travian with Oasis (Bonus: And a Pro-Tip)

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

Hey travian gamers, since I don’t post on the weekends Elvis has asked that I introduce him so he can share some love with the blog. You can read all about him here.

The following is a post by Elvis…

My Travianistic Morning – Just Out of Bed!

No matter how bad of a night’s sleep I get, the morning always excited me because it’s that time of day that I get to log into my Travian account and spend resources on anything I want. I can:

  1. Build TONS of troops
  2. Host a Party
  3. Level up my Residence

Sometimes I can do all three of these.

First I host a party, then I build troops, but I don’t use all my resources, then I level up my residence or transfer resources to another village to do the same.

The Travian Oasis Fail – What Not To Do

But today, was different, as I was looking for a good oasis to use up those (17x) cages I just plundered with my hero, I saw this:

oasis

As you can see, here we have an oasis that hasn’t been occupied for some time, as it’s inhabited by animals (literally). That’s fine. But in the oasis’ reports section there are 3 attacks in the same minute… that have red swords! Each of these attacks looks like this:

go-oasis-failWhat is the point of faking an oasis that is owned by nature?

I have no idea but I’m hoping someone is going to slap me across the face and tell me to wake up and realize what is happening in this oasis is indeed normal… because I have no idea.

Going on to the second part of this post…

How to Know You’re Doing Things Right in Travian

Right, so there are a few litmus tests that you can do to see if you are on the right track with your quest to avoid getting raided. Put differently, here is how you know it’s time to demolish your crannies so you can build a second warehouse or granary:

– If when you login each morning there are no “during the night” attacks on your village.

I’m not referring to a random raid where someone plunders your village with 1000 ECs sent without first scouting. I’m talking about a few raids where you’re losing resources and other players think they can raid you. That’s the problem: They know they can get away with it.

Travian is all about being the bully that bullies all the other players. Of course you don’t want to make a personal enemy out of an egotistical account ranked #13 who feels its their mission to “teach you a lesson” but you do want to be raiding very regularly.

I’m Gaul, and I have:

  • 4 Farm lists. I think everyone on the map that is smaller than me, is on that farm list.
  • 4 Farm lists that get used at least 3x each every day.

This is the idea… use your farm lists every day. This accomplishes 2 things:

  1. Of course you get more resources. But more importantly,
  2. You make it very difficult for players in your SW/SE/NW/NE area to grow into a formidable threat.

That #2 is really important. Don’t worry about losing a few TTs when you raid someone.. that’s not the point. The point is you’re destroying their pitiful parties of troops so that they don’t grow into a large force that is out of your control and poses an actual threat.

Alliances and Travian Dual: Getting an Edge in the Game

Playing with Partners

What is a better way to make sure you win than teaming up with other people? A team works wonders when you all unite and work together making sure every other person in the team both give and benefit. You can always find a way to get someone team up with you and then you work things out, helping each other and you’re sure to come up with a strategy to win over others. Two heads are better than one, right?

In Travian, there are two basic ways that you can get other people to help you. One way that is programmed into the game is by forming an alliance. This one is considered a must in Travian. The second one is a Travian dual. A Travian dual is more likely an agreement between players.

Let’s take a look at these two things closely and discuss some of its advantages and disadvantages.

Travian Alliance

A Travian alliance can be gained when you get invited into an alliance or you create your own alliance. You will need to build an Embassy to be able to either join or create an alliance. In alliances, you basically team up with other players. You can plan or organize an attack together. You can send reinforcements to each other or even resources. The whole point of an alliance is to help each other in it. When you’re in an alliance, other players will think twice before attacking you because they know you can ask for reinforcements. Players would avoid messing with someone who has a lot of strong back ups.

Disadvantages in alliances is that you could get caught up in alliance wars. Now that is surely something you wouldn’t want especially when big players are involved. If for example the people in your alliance has been a big help to you and then the time comes that they want to pick up a fight with another alliance, you might not be able to deny them and you’d find yourself caught up in big fights. A big disappointment if you ask me because you joined an alliance to find allies and not make enemies. Maybe it could be difficult finding an alliance that don’t have such aggressive members but the key thing here is just to make your village strong. War or not, you’d face a big enemy somehow so try to keep up with the big boys.

Travian Dual

A Travian Dual is when you give your password to someone else and they have full access to your account. This works very well when that someone else is from a time zone different from you. When you’re not available online, the other person can keep the account running for you. Therefore, you always have your account active and progress will continue even though you’re asleep. By giving your password to someone else in a Travian Dual set-up, you let them have the power to control your account in any way they want so be sure these people are trusted.

Although the name suggests Travian “dual” it doesn’t necessarily mean there are only two of you using the account. A Travian dual can have 3 or 4 people using the account. This is a better way to make sure that progress continue in your account. Obviously, in the Travian dual set-up, the cons are very obvious. If the person/s cannot be trusted, then you know they can control your account against how you want it. They can completely take over the account. If they’re not very good with the game yet, they could make crucial mistakes that might be difficult to fix. Just be sure that the person you’re giving your password to can be trusted or else, all fails.

The Decision

Whether you join an alliance or have Travian dual, what’s important is that you’re careful with the people you trust and team up with. This is one strategy that you should be extra careful in dealing with. These are other people we’re talking about so try to make sure you don’t make enemies.

Get in the Game: 5 Travian Strategies to be a Successful Player

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

travian-villageYou cannot win a game you do not play. This is true in any game, either sports or video games or even in life. And yet many of us stand on the sidelines because we are unsure of the strategy to use in order to win the game. Like in the game Travian, it will cost you time, effort and resources.

Truth is, you are already playing and you can’t avoid being the underdog. The prize is worth the effort but you have to put more of it if you want to earn the prize.

By now, you probably don’t know yet what strategy to use to get you through in Travian. If your way of playing isn’t the best, you’ll most likely be frustrated by your lack of progress and realize that you need to invest more effort, time and resources to get on top – otherwise, why would you keep on researching what others do? You want to know how they do it and what’s the strategy they use.

Here’s how you can get in the game

1. Know the Timeline
Time is the only resource you can’t get enough of in Travian. You cannot ever know how much time you’ll have before bigger players start to make you a farm. However, the basic thing you have to do is down to two phases: properly manage your time and learn to prioritize.During the first phase of time management, this will require careful planning. Know how much time you need and aim for a deadline. Then comes the second phase, prioritizing. Knowing what you are aiming for will let you learn what to prioritize. In the case of offensive players, you learn to prioritize improving your troops and being able to create more. For defensive players, you learn to prioritize improving defense mechanisms to ward off attackers.

2. Gain the Advantage
In connection to number one, you can save time by knowing a certain advantage. In Travian, knowing the tribe that will help you with your game aim can help you not only save time but also getting an edge in the game. Each tribe, Romans, Gauls and Teutons have a specialty. Knowing what they can do best will help you progress faster and better. Perhaps, you’ve seen other players grow well in the game. If you get an advantage, you can compete with them. Join an alliance, that is one advantage you shouldn’t miss.

3. Make Your First Move
It’s time to make an important decision and it is to finally get in the move. Don’t think that constructing buildings and upgrading resource fields is the only thing you need to do. Even in the case of defensive players, you need to make a move. You need to learn how to attack and fight back those players who might be farming or chiefing you.

4. Automate It
Now that you have formulated your winning strategy, it’s time to automate it. Remember that it is you guide throughout the game. Whether you choose to be defensive, be offensive or be good at both, you have to let that strategy be a rule – it has to be automatic. Execute every plan, every raid, every attack, every adventure and let that strategy lead you to being one of the top players. If your strategy don’t work, don’t fret. You can always try again. As long as there is progress in your village, you can always find a way to shift and do things differently.

5. Make the Impossible Shot
In a strategy game like Travian, you can never guess what’s coming. You’ve got a winning strategy but it is a risk. Don’t be afraid to take it. This means that we struggle with feelings like worrying about failing or being the player that is just present to be farmed. That’s why we’re coming up with a strategy. As long as you have one, you have nothing to worry.

It may seem impossible to be a top player and you may even resort to cheating. So what happened? You get discouraged. But it is not how it is supposed to be. After days and months of playing, you have made progress so keep that in mind. As long as you are progressing, you can always find a way around every problem.

You have a winning strategy to get in the game – become your own star player, make things happen and get in the game!

Adventurous Travian Dual “Couples”

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

home-slider-trivianEvery year thousands of teams set out on the journey to play Travian on one of the speed servers. For some, it is the best and most reward journey they ever go on. But for others, getting along with sitters and duals is a constant source of contention.

So what is the difference between players that make it to the top 10 and duals that can’t break the 100 ranks and end up hating each other?

The stresses with playing Travian are inevitable – the cost of gold, the first few days, the seemingly never ending troops to build and move around. This is all to be expected since everyone starts their Travian account from zero and builds it up.

To help you better understand and navigate the process of dealing the duals and keeping each other organized, I have made a list of the top 3 “dual relationship” strategies that have worked for me.

BUILD A STRESS MANAGEMENT PLAN

Your ability to manage the stress that comes with playing Travian is more important the more duals are playing on the account. When someone experienced a stressful moment, due to too many attacks coming in or losing too many villages… or even playing the game takes too much time out of their personal life, they tend to get dramatic and want to quit.

This is why you and your duals need to develop a stress management plan that includes organization and delegation so that everyone knows what they have to do on the account. Making duals responsible for various activities is a good way to achieve this. Creating a “daily account management routine” is another great way to accomplish this.

It may also be a good idea for duals to take time off from playing Travian. Rather than rotating through 4 people on the account, why not give one person a 4-day vacation so they can come back refreshed? This method often works very well with duals who are from an older audience and who have personal lives outside of Travian (work, kids, relationships, etc.)

LET TRAVIAN OFF TIME, BE TRAVIAN OFF TIME

Spending time away from Travian should be taken for what it is. It should not be a time when you are logging into the game and checking your villages one last time before going to bed.

Discussing travian related issues or secretly playing the game when your spouse/partner is around is a great way to agitate them and make them think that you “love travian more than you love” them.

When you play travian with your duals, it’s also easy to turn your bedroom and personal life into an extension of the game. Just remember that as harmless as this may seem, it actually can wreak havoc on the intimacy of your relationships outside of Travian.

KEEP IT PROFESSIONAL

When you play Travian with your duals, it’s easy to fall into the trap of treating your duals like your subordinates. But just because you are playing an account together as a team doesn’t mean that you have to be the boss and bitch everyone around. Travian is, after all, all about teamwork.

Keep in mind that you are running a large account that requires someone working on it 24/7. You can keep things going smoothly with your duals by:

  • Saying “please” and “thank you”
  • Not blaming your dual when something goes wrong on the account.
  • If you are talking over the phone, don’t interrupt!
  • Be mindful of your language, don’t swear too much
  • Give your undivided attention to your duals when you are creating a strategy

Keeping your relationship with your duals professional does not need to mean that you are being cold
and distant toward them. It simply means being mindful of what you are saying/chatting. By treating
your duals with respect, you will create a gaming environment that is more fun and healthier for everyone.

The Trick to Building Fast

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

Time is something that needs to be managed well in Travian. I learned that if you’re not wise in dealing with the time you have, you’ll be wasting so much of it. When instead of being able to progress further already, it will be a very slow progress if you don’t know how to handle your time well.

The trick to saving your time in building almost anything is quite simple, actually. All you have to do is upgrade your main building first. Once it reaches level 20, building anything will be faster. It’s an important time-saving trick in Travian and it’s pretty clever.

Oh! So you have a lot of time anyway and you’re not rushing but remember, if you improve slowly, during your long process, other players can take advantage of you. Good luck once you become a farm for other players. You’ll lose not only time but even resources. You really don’t want that to happen, right? So know your priorities.

Remember, Travian is a strategy game. It’s a matter of clever actions and wise decisions.
