Travian Catapult Attacks: How NOT to Do it

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

So I have a few accounts, one of them is on USX. I’m not doing really well, but I’m the only person on that travian account… no duals. It’s like, my “private account”… actually more like a test account, to see if playing Gaul is actually fun.

Turns out, the answer to this is: it depends, because…

Last night, I made a mistake (who doesn’t?): I sent an attack to a village without faking all of the other villages belonging to that player and in so doing, get to say “bye bye” to a good chunk of my farming resources:catapult attacksSo the lesson here is that when you’re attacking someone who has a few villages, it’s always best to:

  • Fake catapult attack all the other villages
  • Make sure all the fake catapult attacks arrive at the same time
  • Probably a good idea to have scouted all the villages as well (unless you’re planning on sending the catapult clearing wave to a village you did not scout)

The attack is a little bit interesting since I did send a catapult clearing wave to get rid of the troops that were in the village… but my goal, at least initially was to make a farm out of the village.. not to say “goodbye” almost 1600 troops. Oh well.

I’m not sure why, but this season of USX has been extremely boring… maybe because I’ve gone out on my own, or maybe because there are less than 4000 players on the server. Travian is just not quite as popular as it used to be, and I think I know why… but that’s subject for another blog post.

Catapults always make things a little more interesting… only in this case I didn’t use them!

The Dilemma: Training Village Settlers But Having To Deal With Raiders

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

The Dilemma

The past few days have kept me busy about preparing to build my second village. I have been spending so much time and effort on upgrading resources and my residence (palace). I did so much to work on it and I have been doing on the side is researching new troops. Oh, but speaking of troops, I just found 36 TT’s from adventure which is just fabulous! Anyway, back to the topic, I have been taking care of a lot that would help me start working on my second village.

village settlers

As you can see, my village is now starting to look good and is in shape. So I am now ready to expand but the problem is I’ve been having too many raiders lately. Obviously, raiders are a problem. To expand and grow, you need resources. To build a second village, you need to train 3 settlers. I went to my residence to train village settlers but then, they are very expensive to train!

village settlers

I really didn’t expect them to be this expensive. Now, I know the solution is simple. I need to improve resource production to be able to train village settlers. The problem is the raids keep coming and I now don’t know if I should ward them off first or start working on the second village. I can’t just do both. That would be very difficult and I might make the wrong move.

Trying to Solve the Matter

Well, since the raids are hindering me from progress, I know I need to counter them. One of the raiders is my stalker. So what I did was send him a message. I am hoping that we can build a friendship again so that he’ll stop attacking me and may help me instead. Let’s hope for the best after I sent him the message. For the others, well, I have no other choice than to be train troops and protect myself. Since I don’t have enough resources to train village settlers yet, I guess I might as well use them to train troops instead so I ward off attackers and somehow be able to buy time for me to upgrade my resources and warehouse. I need more  resources to be able to train village settlers.

With my current actions, I suppose you could say that I would have to delay my plans on building my second village. Right now, I have no choice but to let it wait. I think the best thing I can do here is make sure that I will have enough resources to train my village settlers so that I can immediately use them. Village settlers can be killed during an attack so it is not ideal for me to build them one by one knowing that I village settlershave attacks coming in regularly. I have to take care of the attacks first before I train village settlers. Losing one settler is a very big loss since they use so much resources upon training.

Work Needed – Village  Settlers and Resources

It seems like it’s still a pretty long way before I can get the construction of my second village started but I can take this time to improve my village. There is no sense in just waiting because I have to get things going if I want to make sure that my 3 village settlers will be ready and I can finally have them trained and used. It seems that I have my work cut out for me so I better get things going.

This is where you see how important defense is. You can’t just always get back against your enemy. Fight them every time they attack you. That may not always be as effective as you think. Sometimes, the best way to keep enemies away is that to make them see that you are of no  use for them. No matter how much they attack you, there are no resources they can take. They cannot get anything from you or they lose troops whenever they attack your village because your defense is rocking the house. They will eventually leave you alone because they know that it’s no use and they need to improve.

Tip of the day: Keep your defenses rocking.

Of course, my village is being farmed!

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

I guess for a new player who’s just starting out, you really can’t avoid being farmed. When I checked my reports today, oh my gosh! Pages and pages of raid reports! I just don’t know how I’m going to react. I ditched my past account because it was hopeless because of the number of raids it was receiving and now it’s happening all over again! History repeating itself! How terrible! I don’t know what I’m going to do. But I do have an edge. It’s not a hopeless situation this time. There is still something I can do to turn things around.

First of all, I can still upgrade my buildings and my resource fields. I can use it to get up on my feet. With higher levels, I have higher capabilities which I can use for my advantage. Although, there might be a problem with building enough troops to get my army going. Right now, I’m incapable of building a huge troop but I guess I’ll figure it out somehow. If now, then I guess I’ll just puppy dog face all the raiders to get them to stop attacking me.

cant-resit-face

At least I’m glad that my progress has not been hindered by the attacks yet. I’m proud to say that my village is in good shape. My main building at level 10, my barracks now at 2 and my granary and cranny are at level 5.  Pretty neat, huh? There’s really nothing to it. As long as you have your goals set and you know what you should do, you can do it.

My resource fields are also doing very well. I have all fields now producing resources and all I have to do is continue upgrading them. Let me say, upgrading and leveling up is really a great strategy for beginners. It lets you build that strong player within. I bet in no time, I’d be able to do my own attacks and be able to fight off my attackers. I’m so positive about it!

My hero has just got her health in full. So I sent her to a dangerous adventure to a Natarian village and yes, you’ve guessed it. She earned attribute points! That’s right! More Off and Def bonus for my pretty hero. It’s definitely exciting! Soon, she’ll lead my battles toward great victory!

Upon doing a bit of research, I read that beginner’s should start attacking inactive villages. I think that’s a really good place for me to start if ever I want to finally jump into attacking and raiding. Although I still don’t know how to find out if that’s an active player or not but villages smaller than me would be a good target. I also need to attack an oases if I wanna get things going so I suppose I need to work on that too.

Not much pressure?

Oh no. It’s pressure alright. That thought that I have to finally do an attack. It’s like training, not troops, but myself. Oh man! I couldn’t feel more nervous about it. I mean, it’s very unpredictable. Yes, it’s exciting but it’s scary at the same time. You can never know what this will all lead to. It’s a gamble. You win, you gain. You lose, you lose a lot! Not only resources were put in but also time, lots and lots of time! If I make a mistake, like a huge one, it means that I wasted to much of my time and effort. We really don’t want this to be more of a loss than a gain, right?

But at the end of the day, it’s all still a game. You can either win or lose and sometimes, all you can do is hope for the best. But I suppose if you work hard enough, there’s actually a great chance for better things to hope for.

My Latest Strategy

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

trav

My resource fields are now all functional and produce-capable. I’ll be leveling them up but for now, I’m focused on developing my village. I haven’t done much yesterday on my village so I have to do some upgrades today. I have to make sure that the progress will continue. I cannot afford any delays right now since the raids have not stopped. They are quite on the rise actually. Not in the number of players but the number of attacks per player.

About the raids, there has been new players attacking me. This is exactly why I have to speed up on the progress. I need to be capable of attacking or defending as soon as possible! If I don’t do anything and fast, I might lose this village again.

To be honest, I have no exact idea what to do. All I know is that I have to upgrade and upgrade so that I’ll be able to produce a somehow big troop of Phalanxes so I can finally do an attack. My hero needs more skills too. I can’t get anywhere with this. I’m still too weak to ward off attackers. I need to build and strengthen up my village.

Right now, an alliance would be so much of a big help. I’m just a little confused on how I get invited into an alliance. I still haven’t seen how to do it or how to ask an alliance leader to give me an invitation. Do I simply message the guy or something? Is that how it goes? Or won’t I really be able to join unless asked to? Although I have read, upon making a little research, that some people prefer to not join an alliance. That I think is a bad idea. You really won’t be able to stand up against a player who has big guys behind him. You should know that when you mess with someone like that, you could be taken down easily once they team up against you. Remember, there’s power in number.

I found a blog, Travian Guide, which talked about alliance and it had some great tips in it about choosing an alliance to join. Not what I was looking for but still very helpful. I can’t believe there are spies in alliances. Some people are really that competitive? Then I guess I should be careful. There may be a lot of tough things about this game but I suppose nothing could be tougher than dealing with other people.

I have always said to myself that in any aspect, I want to do my best and be a winner. But that doesn’t mean that everything will go smoothly because there will be struggles. This game has really been testing my patience and I’m trying my best to be strategic in the best sort of way. There are a lot of improvements to be done but I’m not giving up. I want to be big! I want to be strong. Most of all, I want revenge. Can’t wait to finally feel that excitement of sending out countless attacks on players who would be begging me to spare them.

This is just the beginning…

Raids, raids, raids and slow progress

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

Well, darn these players who feed on the weak! They should take on someone their own size.

I have to admit, I’m quite pissed to see that raids have been raining on my village already. Seriously people? You’re big villages.MEME

If you want loot, wouldn’t there be more on bigger villages compared to starting ones? Do you really have to feed on the weak and helpless? Such cowards! Man up, people!

This is so annoying! It’s holding me back on my progress. I’ve been doing well lately. I’ve got more resources and my cranny is now up. All I have to do is build more to protect more resources. But these raids are keeping me from progress.

Anyway, I hope my barracks will be up before I know it. I need troops and I need them to start doing raids of my own. But apparently, there are still a lot of work to be done. Although I’m checking a blog about a beginner’s guide to raiding and it has some helpful tips every beginner should know. Not much on the pro tips but basics so it’s pretty much good info already.

For now, I have no plans of doing raids yet. I want to make sure first that I have the enough resources I would need. But, I might build troops just to see if they can defend my village. I guess it’s a gamble and a bit of experiment but I won’t do that just yet. I have other better things to spend my resources on.

So for my next projects, I have to build a Barracks and and Embassy. My Barracks will be up soon in any minute now then I’ll be building my Embassy. These are all things in the task list which I mentioned in the previous post. Very helpful if you need to know which buildings to prioritize building.

Also, don’t forget to upgrade and upgrade and upgrade your main building. I learned that the higher the level of the main building is, the faster other buildings will construct. Time saved! It’s a very helpful tip.

Oh! And don’t forget to upgrade your cranny and granary from time to time. The higher the level, the more space there is. So if you want to improve resources, you will need to increase space first. It will be useless to upgrade your resource fields if there’s no space to store them, right?

I guess you could say that at this stage, you will really have nothing else to be busy about than establishing your village. You have to set up everything you need for a “fully operational” village. You have to build this, upgrade that, improve this, construct that. Pretty much, that’s just it actually.

I suppose I should also stop worrying about the raiders. As long as they don’t increase and they are not as frequent then it’s probably not much to worry about. It really won’t make you lose much. So far, only about 100+ of each resources is lost. Yes, it’s not that big therefore it’s not worthy to complain much about. It just pissed me off that’s all but I know being mad about it  won’t solve anything. I really just hope it won’t increase or become frequent. Becoming a farm is just the worst. What’s even “worster” that than? Being a frequent farm for so many players. Now that’s a nightmare.

If ever that happens again, I’ll definitely freak out. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know it’s the reason why I abandoned my previous account. A situation like that would be hopeless. So don’t lose hope yet. You’re still starting so a lot could still change. Just don’t let it hinder you from progressing. Still, do as much as you can. It may slow you down but it can’t really stop you. Take it easy and all will be well.

To let you know also, I’m still sending my hero to adventures. No rest for the hero. When she comes back from a dangerous adventure and lost some health points, I send her again to a less dangerous adventure. That way the experience points continue to increase without much risk.

Experimentation Day 5: More Attacks!

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

So the previous experiment in which Ieft 1,000 troops to defend my village somehow ended up quite well. I was right about when I said that attacks coming to my villages only had a few number of troops. I guess it surprised the attacker who sent less than a hundred troops when he found out that there are a thousand troops in my villages. Most of his troops were lost and I was able to defend my village well. So that’s a good start. Experiment 4 went smoothly and for the first time, an experiment led to a good result.

For today’s experiment, I’m continuing to send attacks to the most frequent raider. Although I’m a weaker player than he is, I’m hoping that he’ll realize to not take me lightly. I’m sending him this:

trav

I know it’s not a lot of troops but I’m hoping it can match up to his. We’ll see about it in the next 33 and so hours.

It’s Time To Experiment!

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

That’s it! I give up!

I though it was a terrible thing already having so many attacks on one village. I kept on transferring resources and distributing them to each of my villages to dodge attacks. Now, all of my villages have incoming attacks and I don’t know what to do anymore. There’s nowhere for me to transfer my resources and troops to keep them safe. I’m all out of choices.

So today, I have decided. I’ll take risks on experimenting on different things. Win or lose, I don’t care anymore. I just want to see what will happen when I do certain things. Becoming too conscious and protective of my village won’t do my any good. I have to do something that hopefully will stir things up.

So from tomorrow on, let the experimentation begin!

Travian update: 52 incoming attacks. Wow.

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

How I wish I could explain right now how much alarmed I am when I opened my Travian account today. Why? Well, there are only 52 incoming attacks! And I thought having 11 attacks coming to my village was alarming; Guess I was wrong.

I could no longer count the number of successful raids that I found in the reports. My resources are definitely running out. Before all these happened, amount of the resources I had reached a 6-digit number. Now, well..

Take a look at this screenshot:trav

As you can see, I have almost nothing left. How can I continue doing progress if I’m basically being a host to a parasite? They benefit from me while I lose everything. This is way too troubling that I even dream about worrying what would happen to my poor village. I should stop sighing and start thinking what I can do about it..

..If there is something I can do.

Any suggestions?

Uh Oh…. I THINK I’M BEING FARMED!!!

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

Keep calm and…..trav

…calm and…

…PANIC!!!

That’s it. I had enough. If these attacks are really coming, I just don’t care anymore. They’re farming me and I can’t do anything about it. How can I go against 15 ATTACKS?!

This is just ridiculous! I have no idea what’s going to happen to my village when all these attacks actually come. I might just lose everything, or worse, the entire village. I’m tired of keeping my troops and resources out. They still get away with their raids anyway. Everyday, they keep on increasing and I keep on transferring my resources and it’s just useless.

I can just lie down, try not to cry and then cry a lot but I won’t. It’s all too silly and I’m currently in the position of not being able to fight them.

Yikes! 11 Incoming Attacks!!!

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

So the recent attacks that has now gone from 5 to 11. And I tried to 12345look for some answers why could this be happening. I recently found out about chiefing. I still don’t get a full grasp about it but I do know is that chiefing is somehow like threatening. You threaten another village by sending fake attacks.

I read that there are different ways some players do chiefing. I think it’s a matter of strategy and it really depends on how you handle it. Also, knowing what tribe your enemy is also counts. Tactics will differ depending on the tribe. I’ve also read that it’s a way for players to make their enemies clear out the troops in the village although I still don’t understand for what reason. Some of the things I learned is that it’s to get troops out then you send catapults to destroy the village.

It’s blowing my mind especially that I am sort of falling for the trap because my troops are out of the village. Wish me luck!
