Travian Alliances – The Power of Reinforcements

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

So as many of you know, my USX Gaul account is a peaceful… relaxing account… I make sure I raid the roster and scout the roster every now and then to make sure anyone who every could rise to power in my area… doesn’t. To learn more about how this process works, read about it here.

The Invitation

A few weeks ago, a player asked if I would join their alliance. Basically they want reinforcements that have more than 1 village. Haha. Since I’m just a peasant, as you can see in the picture on the right, I said yes of course!travian reinforcements

And so our interesting relationship has begun with an incident involving reinforcements to be sent to a “friend” in need. Since I’m playing Travian on my own, I don’t have much time to respond to messages… or participate in the alliance…

The Reinforcements Dilemma (Reins)

Ok, I do have time to participate, but I don’t want to. Because a few days ago I got the following message:

My friend,
I have given you the power of defense admiral.Hope you justify your position.

Okay… whatever that means. I’m the reinforcement general now. Just great.

Wasn’t too sure how I was going to justify it, until a “call for sending reinforcements” a fellow alliance member came. Now before you ever send your precious troops to help out a “player in need”, first ask yourself the question: Does this player want my help?

Because when I looked at the player’s profile I discovered 3 things:

  1. He Was Being Farmed
  2. The farmer was getting a lot of resources
  3. Players Sent Reinforcements

1. He Was Being Farmed

I don’t have a single Travian friend who gets farmed consistently. Sure, one raid here, one raid there… it’s part of the game. That’s the way it works. But consistent farming doesn’t happen because attacks don’t get a single resource of mine. Ever.

Don’t protect farms. Farm them.

2. The Farmer Raided Over 50K Resources

This was the part that really got me worried. Other members of the alliance were sending troops to a player, but the player wasn’t even spending down his own resources to build more troops.

IT TAKES 3 clicks!!! Yeah, it’s not like building troops is so time intensive. Enter barracks… click brackets… click train.

3. Players Sent Reinforcements (Reins)

Why would you send troops to a farm? The person who is being farmed is basically sending the message that: “I don’t want to play Travian more than 1hr/day” and “if you send troops to my village I won’t feed them (because the resource will probably be raided).

I can’t want to find out what happens with the next MM they send out… this one was a blast. I replied to the MM requesting reins with what was wrong with their request.

The response I got:

reinforcements travian

Groan. Could have included a little bit about, “pull back and send forth offensive troops” but oh well.

Fixing My Village: The Mistakes Done and Their Solutions

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

mistakes done

Fixing My Village

There have been a lot of things in the past that has caused me lots of problem in Travian. If you have been following this blog, you would know the problems I have faced such as the crop shortage problem, the constant raids, and even the stalker problems which brought destructive attacks in my village. The economy of my Travian was also at possibly it’s worst state ever which caused problem after problem after problem. I know these are all results of crucial mistakes done and I am to blame for them

I do admit, I made poor decisions. Hey, I’m not much of an expert yet but I am trying my best to learn the game and understand it well. This way, I can make sure that I’m on the right track and to be honest, I have never gone this far ever before. So I’m actually proud of the things that I have achieved. If ever I start a new server over again, I’m pretty sure my progress will be faster since I have learned a lot from my experiences in this server.

But now, I’m on the process of getting my village back on track. The mistakes done won’t hold me back from getting my village back to a good condition. The raids have cooled down, I have dealt with the stalker and my resources are well protected with my 3 crannies so my worries about raids are no longer that scary.

Step by Step Process – Mistakes Done and Solutionsmistakes done

Here, I’d outline the mistakes that I have made and the solution that must be done to get things back on track. I’m hoping that this mistake list will help you guys not make the same mistakes I’ve done.

  • Keeping resource fields behind – This mistake done is one mortal sin if you ask me and trust me, it’s one you wouldn’t want to make. You can take the tip I gave you yesterday which I am now doing.  I’m on the process of applying it and my resource fields are now looking good.
  • Not investing on defenses – Of all of the mistakes done, this is one of the biggest. Beginners and “small time” players are the usual targets of raids. They are the ones who usually end up as farms. So as early as the beginner’s protection period, invest your time and resources of building up defenses. Protect your resources as much as possible. When you’re continuously raided and the enemy raids are successful, they will see that you have poor defenses and you can be sure that with the loots they can take from you, they will keep coming back. Once they do, it will be very difficult for you to get back up since you will no longer have the resources you need to build up resources. In other words, don’t wait for things to be too late before you start to realize what should be done.
  • Making enemies – If you’re a player who is still not capable of building an army in a short period of time, DO NOT invest a lot of time to build a big army and attack a big player. As tempting as it can get, try to avoid revenge on a player you know can create a big army in just a day or two while it takes you more than a week to top his troops. A mistake done like this is a very bad decision and you will end up making an unnecessary enemy. Not unless you are capable of keeping those troops in great number each day, don’t piss off a big player. You will be defeated before you can even counter his attacks.
  • Staying idle – Sometimes when you see that you have done a lot already in your account, you could feel content with the progress you’ve made which in turn causes you to take time to chill and relax. It can be very tempting but remember, the big players are not stopping and so should you. You may think you’re good enough but you’re not. As long as there is room for improvement and there can still be upgrades to be done, do it. When there’s nothing else you can upgrade in the village, then build a second one. Never let yourself be idle. You may relax now but once you’ve gained frequent raiders, you may not be able to relax anymore. Tendency, you’ll just give up hope. Mistake done like this could be irreversible so as early as you can, solve it!

Learn Your Way Through

It’s natural to make mistakes, we’re not perfect after all. But, be sure that you take action immediately. There are mistakes done that if you dwell in can be beyond repair. Do your best and learn your way through the game. There will always be a way to make things better. You just have to find it, solve the problem, get better.

The Dilemma: Training Village Settlers But Having To Deal With Raiders

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

The Dilemma

The past few days have kept me busy about preparing to build my second village. I have been spending so much time and effort on upgrading resources and my residence (palace). I did so much to work on it and I have been doing on the side is researching new troops. Oh, but speaking of troops, I just found 36 TT’s from adventure which is just fabulous! Anyway, back to the topic, I have been taking care of a lot that would help me start working on my second village.

village settlers

As you can see, my village is now starting to look good and is in shape. So I am now ready to expand but the problem is I’ve been having too many raiders lately. Obviously, raiders are a problem. To expand and grow, you need resources. To build a second village, you need to train 3 settlers. I went to my residence to train village settlers but then, they are very expensive to train!

village settlers

I really didn’t expect them to be this expensive. Now, I know the solution is simple. I need to improve resource production to be able to train village settlers. The problem is the raids keep coming and I now don’t know if I should ward them off first or start working on the second village. I can’t just do both. That would be very difficult and I might make the wrong move.

Trying to Solve the Matter

Well, since the raids are hindering me from progress, I know I need to counter them. One of the raiders is my stalker. So what I did was send him a message. I am hoping that we can build a friendship again so that he’ll stop attacking me and may help me instead. Let’s hope for the best after I sent him the message. For the others, well, I have no other choice than to be train troops and protect myself. Since I don’t have enough resources to train village settlers yet, I guess I might as well use them to train troops instead so I ward off attackers and somehow be able to buy time for me to upgrade my resources and warehouse. I need more  resources to be able to train village settlers.

With my current actions, I suppose you could say that I would have to delay my plans on building my second village. Right now, I have no choice but to let it wait. I think the best thing I can do here is make sure that I will have enough resources to train my village settlers so that I can immediately use them. Village settlers can be killed during an attack so it is not ideal for me to build them one by one knowing that I village settlershave attacks coming in regularly. I have to take care of the attacks first before I train village settlers. Losing one settler is a very big loss since they use so much resources upon training.

Work Needed – Village  Settlers and Resources

It seems like it’s still a pretty long way before I can get the construction of my second village started but I can take this time to improve my village. There is no sense in just waiting because I have to get things going if I want to make sure that my 3 village settlers will be ready and I can finally have them trained and used. It seems that I have my work cut out for me so I better get things going.

This is where you see how important defense is. You can’t just always get back against your enemy. Fight them every time they attack you. That may not always be as effective as you think. Sometimes, the best way to keep enemies away is that to make them see that you are of no  use for them. No matter how much they attack you, there are no resources they can take. They cannot get anything from you or they lose troops whenever they attack your village because your defense is rocking the house. They will eventually leave you alone because they know that it’s no use and they need to improve.

Tip of the day: Keep your defenses rocking.

Raiding in Travian: Oases Raid and Raid Defenses

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

Doesn’t good news always make your day? It is sure to make anyone happy when they hear good news. But what if it’s backed up by bad news? It just ruins everything. Well, that’s what my Travian had for me today. It tells me the good news, then followed by bad news…

..and then another bad news.

Plus one more bad news.

I guess I really can’t expect everything to go smoothly as it is. Here is the good news I was talking about:

trav 3

Doesn’t that report look great? A successful defense against an attack. Nine enemies captured and 1 enemy dead. Well, I say my troops did pretty well. There really is power in number. I say that any player, regardless of what tribe you are, you should really make the effort of improving anything that would give you a great number of troops. As long as you have your enemies greatly outnumbered, chances of winning against them is very high. Much more if you have specialized troops and then you are great in number, you will surely get the game going. But of course, all of these need resources. Not just crops, iron, wood or clay but most importantly, time. Time is the only resource you can’t get enough of in Travian. It is always the one you’re sure to get short of. So rushing things won’t get you anywhere. You can’t rush it. Patience is very valuable at this time. You really have to take every step slowly and carefully. So make wise use of your time. Be sure to invest it in projects that need priority.

Going back to my report, that’s it. I got a good news of a defeated enemy. But then, I had to read my other reports. They did not contain more good news. It just went like this…

trav 2

One defeat..

trav 1

..and then another.

Who couldn’t possibly get annoyed? My troops were wiped out just like that. Damn. Just when I was getting the hang of things, this happened. Well, it’s inevitable. There are a lot of strong players out there. I really just wish they don’t feed on the weak, you know?

“HEY! PICK UP SOMEBODY YOUR OWN SIZE, COWARD!”

At least, I tried. I just have to continue making progress if I want more of those good reports. I have lots of resources now and I’m looking forward to expanding them even more. Now, my warehouse is working it’s way to level 5. My main building is at level 12. Work on upgrading your main building. Prioritize it. The higher the level of your main building, the less time it takes for others to level up. So, it’s a clever use of time management. Take it as a tip.

Since I’m working on my warehouse, I can store more and more resources. Which also means, I can train more troops. I need lots of resources if I want a big army, right? I can then raid more oases and hopefully, occupy one soon. My village is situated trav 5at an area where there are three unoccupied oases of clay. Since my tribe is Gaul, this is a big help for me. I’ll work on that anytime soon. Right now, I’m still prioritizing on getting more and more troops. Hopefully, I can avoid future attacks so I can gather loads of troops.

Hold on! The bad news isn’t over. Yep, there’s definitely more. Oh, don’t worry. This is the last one, for today.

trav 4

That’s right, folks. My hero died, again! She’s on her way to being revived. Man, I can’t afford anymore of these deaths. It’s costing me too much on reviving her. I can use the extra resource for more troops, you know? It’s really frustrating. But again, I won’t mope all day about it. I just need more ways on getting more resources.

Also, I still don’t know what to do with my prisoners. I can just set them free. I really don’t care. I just want troops. But I’ll still try to see if I can use them for my advantage. They are not so many so ransoming them doesn’t seem to be very promising although I could still try for a few amount of resources. But I’d still need to build a marketplace and I also don’t have resources for that yet. Although right now, I’m busy using up my resources. I don’t want them to just simply go to my farmers. I’m not that generous. Since I can’t do much defending myself yet, I’ll use them as much as I can.

That’s not much for today but I’m glad I’m making clearer progress. At least, it’s a milestone. My first successful defense. Just you wait. There’s more where that came from!

Travian Attack: Raiding and Troop Specialty

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

It has been more than a week since I have been busy upgrading and leveling up my resource fields and buildings. I guess it’s time to shake things up a little. Although, I don’t have enough resources yet to produce a troop large enough for a sure successful raid yet. So this is what I’m up to. Since there has not been any attacks coming to my village recently,  I will create and collect a troop with 10 Phalanxes and try to attack an oases. Well, collect because all I can make is 4-5 troops at a time. I don’t know if that would be enough but I guess I’ll find out. I will send my hero along with them. I suppose you can say that this is an experiment so we will just have to find out.

For far, nothing new actually. The usual upgrading will stop temporarily today. I need to use the resources I have for training troops. These Gauls really use up a lot of clay it is unbelievable! I really need to upgrade these clay resources more than others. Well, at least I know that I have to prioritize my clay fields. There is definitely a lot of work that needs to be done but hey, making sure there is progress everyday, though slow, as long at it’s continuous then there’s no problem.

As I always do, I’ve been on to some research and I ran into this site with really helpful information about Travian. A website called Ezine Articles by an author whose name is Dan T. Massicotte. I found an article that he did about Travian Troop Specialties. It seems that g36-ltrbased on what he said about Gaul tribes, I shouldn’t focus on becoming an offensive player. Gaul tribes are good at defense and it is their specialty. I also just have learned about this building called “The Trapper.” In Travian Wikia, it is defined as a Gaul-specific building designed to build more traps for the attackers. Basically, it’s not a recommended strategy for a Gaul player to be offensive. So from this day on, I guess I should switch course. I can be an offensive player but taking advantage of my tribe’s specialty will help me advance better.

This is a whole new path for me so I guess I have to rethink my strategies. Most especially that I spent all of my days from the very start improving what needed to be improved to become an offensive player. Good thing is that I can still use all of this to my advantage. It’s still not too late to change my goal of playing because I still am a beginner.

I have just built a trapper and its construction is now ongoing. travI guess I have to build a new village. I’ll try to figure out how. I can use the second building mainly for building troops. This can help me become offensive while taking advantage of my defensive specialties.

Looks like I have more work on my hands as I anticipated. But this change will definitely be for the better. I can’t wait to see how this will turn out.

My Latest Strategy

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

trav

My resource fields are now all functional and produce-capable. I’ll be leveling them up but for now, I’m focused on developing my village. I haven’t done much yesterday on my village so I have to do some upgrades today. I have to make sure that the progress will continue. I cannot afford any delays right now since the raids have not stopped. They are quite on the rise actually. Not in the number of players but the number of attacks per player.

About the raids, there has been new players attacking me. This is exactly why I have to speed up on the progress. I need to be capable of attacking or defending as soon as possible! If I don’t do anything and fast, I might lose this village again.

To be honest, I have no exact idea what to do. All I know is that I have to upgrade and upgrade so that I’ll be able to produce a somehow big troop of Phalanxes so I can finally do an attack. My hero needs more skills too. I can’t get anywhere with this. I’m still too weak to ward off attackers. I need to build and strengthen up my village.

Right now, an alliance would be so much of a big help. I’m just a little confused on how I get invited into an alliance. I still haven’t seen how to do it or how to ask an alliance leader to give me an invitation. Do I simply message the guy or something? Is that how it goes? Or won’t I really be able to join unless asked to? Although I have read, upon making a little research, that some people prefer to not join an alliance. That I think is a bad idea. You really won’t be able to stand up against a player who has big guys behind him. You should know that when you mess with someone like that, you could be taken down easily once they team up against you. Remember, there’s power in number.

I found a blog, Travian Guide, which talked about alliance and it had some great tips in it about choosing an alliance to join. Not what I was looking for but still very helpful. I can’t believe there are spies in alliances. Some people are really that competitive? Then I guess I should be careful. There may be a lot of tough things about this game but I suppose nothing could be tougher than dealing with other people.

I have always said to myself that in any aspect, I want to do my best and be a winner. But that doesn’t mean that everything will go smoothly because there will be struggles. This game has really been testing my patience and I’m trying my best to be strategic in the best sort of way. There are a lot of improvements to be done but I’m not giving up. I want to be big! I want to be strong. Most of all, I want revenge. Can’t wait to finally feel that excitement of sending out countless attacks on players who would be begging me to spare them.

This is just the beginning…

Experimentation Day 6: Another Defense Attempt

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

So upon checking my remaining troops, I have one village that still has a lot of troops. It’s in one of my small villages. Knowing that some attackers may take this village of mine lightly since it’s quite small, I’m leaving 2,000 troops to defend it.

Like what I said in my previous posts, many of my attackers don’t have more than a thousand troops in making their raids. So having this much troops to defend my village will have high possibility for success. Now, I just have to wait.

Yesterday’s experiment still has no results but I will report them all tomorrow. The current problem I have right now is that I don’t have resources to create more troops for my villages. Since raids come every 30 mins., there’s never enough resources left for me to build troops. I might have to make a solution for this because even though I have lots of troops left, if I keep up with my attacking and defending experiments, they’ll eventually run out.

Experimentation Day 4: Troops for Defense

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

challenge-accepted-memeSo I’ve noticed that many of my raiders think that I don’t have that much troops. Why I think so? It’s because the attacks on my villages usually have very little troops only. Some even don’t reach a thousand troops. I think they might be underestimating me a little that is why I’ll try to defend them.

To do so, I’ll try leaving troops in my village to fight off attackers. I’m leaving 1,000 troops to stand by. There will be an incoming raid soon and results won’t be long. I’ll report tomorrow the results, casualties and including the type of troops mine had to attack.

Let’s see how this will work out…

Let’s Talk About Defense

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

During a village attack, troops that are in your village will automatically act as defenders and will fight off the invaders or attackers. There are some things you need to know about defending your village.

The city wall is there simply to add a percentage bonus for your defense troops’ values. The palace and residence adds a fixed bonus for the defense value as well. Peek into your rally point. This is where you will see incoming attacks so you can prepare in advance. You can have stonemason defending your buildings against catapults from the enemy. An armory can be used to enhance the defense strength of all your troops but it’s limited only to the village where it resides. Your cranny will protect resources from raids and attacks. Granary stores the crops your defense troops need to take up. You can’t send starving troops to battle, you know.

Always take note of everything you need to know. Learn every action and every move you need to take to protect your village. Do well and your village stays safe.

Travian: An Addicting Game?

facebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailfacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

According to scientists, it’s human nature to be competitive. It actually helped us survive and even excel. We have this subconscious need to be above others, to be outstanding. We want to be the best but some may not be willing to admit it. Games that trigger competitiveness have the tendency to be the ones that become addicting.

For the competitive Travian comxand critical thinkers, Travian is a great game to play. It lets you think about each move you make, what strategies to use and how to run a village. Let’s you experience the power of becoming the leader and the conqueror. You learn to make use of what’s available and have it work at its fullest capabilities to do something in order to achieve the a goal. You learn to interact and build strong alliances to help you conquer enemies. There’s more to Travian than meets the eye and it takes a lot of game play to appreciate. Nonetheless, Travian triggers the mind to think in a manner that’s wise especially in decision-making.

Sometimes, playing games is a great escape into a world we could only dream about. The only difference is that we play to create our own little world where everything goes our way and we get the feeling of excitement. It’s not just something we do for fun but it’s also something that motivates us. Efforts are never in vain. You may lose, but you get learn how to do better next time.

Enjoy every Travian game you play. Build, produce, fight and win!
